Below are some important points related to basic security hygiene.
The VLEs are advised to read all the below-mentioned points carefully:
· Do not disclose sensitive information to co-workers unless necessary.
· Never share personal information (name, account numbers, address, phone numbers, passwords) to strangers.
· Never provide information to someone over the phone/mobile such as:
a) Password
b) Or any Sensitive Information
· Do not share passwords. Do not give your password to anyone for any reason or type your password when someone is watching.
· Do not send bulk emails through DigiMail.
· Never leave your computer logged on unattended, even for a minute.
· Remember, you are responsible for any activity performed using your user id.
· Do not reply to, or click on links within, emails or pop-up messages that ask for personal or financial information.
· Do not propagate virus hoaxes or chain mail.
· Install only protective software. Do not download software from an unknown publisher.
· Do not open email attachments from unknown senders.
· Do not store unwanted information on your computer if you are not authorized to do so.
Generic Activities to ensure Information Security
· Maintain the confidentiality of all data, keeping in mind the privacy of all individuals.
· Create a strong password & change your passwords regularly.
· Always log off the system when you are done or are leaving your work area for an extended period of time.
· Anti-virus software should be installed and updated timely.
· Beware of shareware; it may contain a virus.
· Use a firewall to protect your computer from Internet intruders.
· Keep deleting temp and cookies frequently
· Dispose of information in a secure manner
· Before leaving a check for the following:
a. Sensitive material and your laptops are secure
b. Drawers, file cabinets and offices are locked
